Eco House
Meath, Ireland
Brief
The clients, a family of water sports enthusiasts, wanted a new build house on a picturesque greenfield site overlooking the Irish Sea.
Solution
Stephen Ball fully embraced the site and the client’s love for the sea in this design. The home features many coastal references, including a wave-like form, a blanketing grass roof referencing surrounding dunes, and wrap-around external decks like a ship. The house appears part buried, allowing it to sensitively merge with the landscape. It has an inverted layout: the bedrooms are on the ground floor, and the living areas are elevated allowing the family to make the most of the spectacular views, captured from the extensive seaward windows and balconies.
